Massage therapy treatment has a therapeutic effect on the body and optimizes health and well-being by acting on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems. Physical function can be developed, maintained and improved; and physical dysfunction and pain and the effects of stress can be relieved or prevented through the use of massage therapy.

Manual Osteopathy

Manual Osteopathy is a manual therapy (meaning the therapist will use their hands for treatment) that treats the whole body, or those structures which are the root of the dysfunction (i.e. the structures that are causing the pain or discomfort). Manual Osteopaths use soft tissue techniques, joint mobilizations and muscle energy techniques to help relieve pain and dysfunction within the body. We offer manual osteopathic assessments and treatments. The assessment is an initial one hour appointment to identify problem areas causing pain, tightness or inflammation. This will include a brief medical history, as well as collection of patient information. Following an assessment, our manual osteopathic treatments are 30 or 45 minutes long and includes treatments of structures identified during the assessment.

Assessment – duration: one hour, cost: $80, Manual Osteopathic Treatment – duration: 45 minutes, cost: $70, Short Manual Osteopathic Treatment – duration: 30 minutes, cost: $55.

Offered by Jess Webb. Manual Osteopathy is covered by all major insurance companies, with the exception of Great West Life. Jess does not do direct billing, so receipts must be submitted manually to the individual’s insurance company.

Acupuncture involves the insertion of hair-thin needles to specific acupuncture points throughout the body to restore the flow of Qi (pronounced chee), balance the body’s energy, stimulate healing, and promote relaxation. It is based on the premise that a blockage or disturbance in the flow of the body’s life energy (or Qi) can cause health issues. Acupuncture can help with anxiety, low back pain, fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel, sciatica, neck and shoulder pain, depression, headaches, insomnia, stress, and addictions such as smoking, sugar and alcohol. It strengthens the immune system, provides relaxation and improves circulation.

Naturopathic medicine is a distinct primary health care system that blends modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine. The naturopathic philosophy is to stimulate the healing power of the body and treat the underlying cause of disease. Symptoms of disease are seen as warning signals of improper functioning of the body, and unfavourable lifestyle habits. Naturopathic Medicine emphasizes disease as a process rather than as an entity. Treating both acute and chronic conditions, naturopathic treatments are chosen based on the individual patient – their physiological, structural, psychological, social, spiritual, environment and lifestyle factors. In addition to diet and lifestyle changes, natural therapies including botanical medicine, clinical nutrition, hydrotherapy, homeopathy, naturopathic manipulation and traditional Chinese medicine/acupuncture, may also be used during treatments.

Naturopathic initial visit, duration: 60 minutes, cost: $180. Naturopathic follow-up visit – duration: 30 minutes, cost: $100
